Troop 6 High Adventure Trip
Florida Sea Base - Coral Reefs Adventure

Crew:

Up to 12 Boys: Age 13 by 8/4/2004
Up to 4 Adults:

Itinerary:

August 4th to 12th, 2004

August 4th:  Fly to Florida, rent van and drive to Florida Sea Base in Islamorada, Florida, in the heart of the Keys. Here we will bunk for the night, take our swimming test, check out our snorkeling equipment, have dinner in the dining hall, and meet our captain for the trip.

After breakfast on August 5th we’ll stock the boat with provisions for the week and take off for five nights aboard a sailing vessel of approximately 42 feet in length. During the week we’ll decide as we go whether to sail with the wind, do some deep sea fishing, or tie up to one of the many coral reefs in the area for an afternoon of snorkeling amongst the brightly colored fish and other sea life.

The boys will be responsible for handling the duties of the boat, with the captain’s guidance. All meals will be prepared and eaten on board. Mid-week we will dock in a slip in Key West and have the day to tour this quaint town at the far end of the Keys. Then we’ll make our way back up toward the Sea Base for two more days.

We arrive back at Sea Base before dinner August 11, clean up the boat and spend some time relaxing at the base. Dinner is typically a  Hawaiian Luau with skits and songs.

August 12, we’ll make our way back to the airport for the flight home.
